A Shelter Dog's Day

I woke up today to the sounds of dogs barking their heads off.  It must be time to get up.  I hope I get outside today!  It would be nice to walk around a little and maybe do my business outside, instead of on my bed.  OK, OK shut up you dogs!  I think everyone here is going crazy.  All they do is bark all day long.

Oh, here come that red-haired shelter guy.  I hope he pets me again.  I like it when he does that.  Hi, Hi please pet me!  Oh well I guess he is extra busy today.  Yesterday I licked him.  I enjoy those moments.  I don't know why I am back here.  It's been a long time.  All I remember is going for a walk and smelling the grass and looking for something to chase, and now I am back here.  Oh, Oh here comes someone.  Crap, they're looking for a small dog.  I am not small or big.  I am just right for someone though.

Shut up down there, I hate that Poodle.  He barks at everything.  Oh man, I have to go so bad it hurts!  Maybe if I hit my head on the cage long enough someone will take me outside.  Bang! Bang! Bang!  Ouch, that's starting to hurt my nose.  Hey, hey, please can I go outside?  Crap, here comes that hose again.  I hate that thing.   I 'd better get ready because I know that he's going to clean my cage out this morning.  Oh here he comes!  What side do I go first - the poop side or the clean side?  Oh, no I forgot there isn't a clean side today, because I ate too much yesterday and I pooped on both sides.  Splash, splash and move.  Splash, Splash, and he is done.  Wow, I can't tell you how nice it is to have a clean cage again.  I guess I'll lay down until the food comes, it's more comfortable for me.  My bladder doesn't hurt as much.

Bark, Bark, Bark, Bark, Bark, Bark, and Bark; oh how my head hurts.  Sometimes when I sit here I count the number of people that walk by for.  Yesterday there were 30 but nobody picked me.  Yes! here comes the food!  I wonder what's for breakfast today?  Oh, it's the same as yesterday.  That multi colored stuff.  I hate it.  It gives me the runs.  I eat it because that's all we get.

Man, the red-haired guy seems really busy today.  I didn't even get a "Good Morning" from him.  I hope he has time later to come by and say "Hi".  It's been a long time since I have seen anyone that I know.  OUCH, I can't hold it any longer.  I'd better go.  Oh, that feels better, but now I have to stand on the other side of the cage until someone sees my mess.  This really get me down!  These cages are so small already and now I just cut it in half.  Oh, please someone take me out of here.  Oh, there's Sara. Sara, Sara, over here!!!  Yes! She coming my way.  Crap, it's the hose. Splash, Splash and move.  Oh, there she goes.  NO! NO! Not again.

That's all for today?  Lights out. Oh well, maybe tomorrow I will be able to get outside. Somebody please take me home. Please, please, please.
